About Me

To put it simply: I’m a ballroom enthusiast.  I’ve been dancing since I was eight (hip-hop, jazz and tap), but fell inOne of the many competitions fall ‘06 love with ballroom my junior year of college.  I entered my first ballroom competition as a beginner in the northeastern collegiate arena in October of 2006 (International Latin and Standard).  Dancing roughly 24 hours a week (30 before competitions), my partner and I quickly placed out up to sliver in less than 6 months.  For any of you who’ve had a taste of the collegiate arena, you know this is no small feat.

While I know all 19 dances, my partner and I focused on Latin (Cha Cha/Rumba/Jive/Samba/Paso Doble).  My partner and I :)I’ve had four distinguished coaches, who taught me everything I know.    One of which was on Dancing with the Stars.  You will come to find I have very mixed feelings about that show.  More on that in the posts.

This blog is a tribute to my ballroom dancing days.  Since life is coming quickly, I’ve had to set aside my heels to study for the LSATs (tear).  I have replaced 24 hours of ballroom practice, with LSAT practice (sob and tear).  Fortunately for me, I lack the self-control to study for that ghastly length of time, and therefore have started this blog as an outlet for my dancing dreams.

A little bit more about me: I’m a public relations major, english minor in my final year of college.  The plan is to go to law school (obviously), and then pursue a career in crisis management, social media or cause branding (perhaps a mixture).

I’m from the west coast, but live on the east.  I have been recruitment chair of my sorority for the past two years.  I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain.  I am one of five kids; family of seven—each of whom means the world to me.

I love questions. I love conversation. And the lawyer in me loves to debate.  Feel free to contact me at vc“gerard”@gmail.com (minus the quotations).  J

I look forward to hearing from you!

    Hey girlfriend,
Well at least now we know what happened to you! No one knew where you had run off to :( You should stop by some time next semester to say hi. Hope the LSAT prep is going well!

My daughter recently started competing in ballroom dancing. It is so much more work than people give dancers credit for. I went to her first competition this past weekend and was amazed by the athletiism and grace of many of the dancers. It was so much fun to watch. She and her partner placed fourth and we’re so proud of them.

FABULOUS blog! I have been ballroom dancing since I was in diapers (well, close, lol!) and it is truly one of my favorite things in life!!! I get such a rush every time I step out on the dance floor in all my glitter and sequins, I feel like every eye is on me and I am there to sell my dance (although I could do without the heels… ouch! lol)!!! I am so glad to see someone making a blog about this! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL honey! Keep it up! xoxo ;)
