Just watched Dancing with the Stars episode from last night.  In less than three hours we’ll finally have our winner.  Goodness, I hope Helio wins…

Quick recap:  It will be a God-awful sin if Marie dances tonight in the finals.  I’m sorry, but the judges said it best– what she does out there is performs, she can’t dance. 

Her samba was lacking in every aspect.  She shimmies to waste time.  Her traveling voltas were clumsy, her samba basic was poor form.  I wonder if her partner even bothered to teach her the pelvic rotation that defines the samba. 

Now I’ll be the first to admit, samba is one of the most technically difficult dances, and the fact that she attempted to do the rolls is commendable.  But let’s be honest, that’s an Open move for a reason.  Now, about her freestyle.  It was heinous! The concept was creative and original, but this is called Dancing with the Stars, not walking, or shimmiing, or clamouring with the Stars.  Bruno Tonioli was right, it just “wasn’t a dance.” 

Ok, Mel.  I like her, I really do.  And anytime we get to see Victoria Beckham I’m estatic, so that was exciting.  Also, I competely support the spice girls.  My old coach actually danced with Baby Spice on the European version of DWTS a few years ago.  But, she is such a better dancer than what she showed last night.  I, too, was hoping for just a bit more.  Her locks were weak, she wasn’t very sharp.  Ugh, I hate to be Debbie Downer, so I’ll stop there on her.  I’m willing to bet she dances tonight in the finals, and if Helio doesnt win, then yes I hope it’s her who takes home the title. 

Helio (sighhhhh…).  He was amazing last night.  The jive was…meehhh….but that freestyle.  Wow.  That is what DWTS is all about.  He’s really come such a long way.  It’s no coincidence that they save him and Julianne for last.  They are performers through and through, and their freestyle was probably one of the best I’ve ever seen.  In compeitition terms, he could dance in Open (the pro level) and probably place.  That’s huge considering he’s only been dancing for ten weeks.  

Keep your fingers crossed!  Hopefully we can congradualte Helio tomorrow!
